BMW
has previewed the next generation 3 Series Coupe in the form of the 4 Series
Coupe concept.
The
company is keen on getting its new-gen coupe and convertible models to a digit
up and giving them a distinct identity in the lineup, eg: the 5 Series Coupe
became the 6 and now the 3 becomes 4.
The
4 Coupe borrows styling elements from the bigger 6 Series with full-LED
headlamps complementing the very-aggressive looking lower front fascia.
The
rear is in sync with the front design elements and gels nicely with the overall
theme.
With
a wheelbase of 2810mm, which is 50mm longer than the current 3 Coupe, the 4
Series promises to be more spacious than the former.
Premium
leather elements cover the entire cabin. You name it and that place will have
leather upholstery on it. But then again, it looks borrowed from bigger brother
6 Series, which in itself is not a bad thing.
There
will be a host of new technology features as well, however, it is still not
clear if those will make it to the production lines.
BMW
haven't announced the powertrain lineup for the 4 Series Coupe, however, it is
expected that under the hood will be the familiar 2.0-litre 4-cylinder
turbocharged unit from the 3 Series sedan.
The
company will be showcasing this car at next year's Detroit Auto Show, with the
first production car rolling out thereafter.
